Mtn. View to play for U.S. Jr. Little League title
Scottsdale Mountain View overcame a six-run deficit in the first inning and beat New Jersey 10-8 on Thursday and will play in the U.S. championship of the Junior Little League Baseball World Series (ages 13-14) in Taylor, Mich.
Michael Salazar pitched the final three innings and got the win for the Arizona team, which will play either New Jersey or Indiana at 5 p.m. (Arizona time) Friday.
The winner advances to face the international champion Saturday for the Series title.
Mountain View scored four runs in the second, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 9-6 lead.
Cody Erickson hit a grand slam, and Jimmy DiTroia hit a two-run homer for Mountain View.
